We did it again! POP Goes Virtual for 36th VI-HPS Tuning Workshop

Friday, October 2, 2020

Instructors from POP Partner JSC supported the 36th VI-HPS Tuning Workshop hosted as virtual (online) event by CINECA in Bologna, Italy, from September 30 to October 02, 2020.

VI-HPS Tuning Workshops are the major training vehicle where around 30 participants receive instruction and guidance applying VI-HPS tools to their own parallel application codes, along with advice for potential corrections and optimizations. Feedback to tools developers also helps direct tools development to user needs, as well as improve tool documentation and ease of use. As such, interactions between participants and instructors is an essential component of these workshops.

This workshop was originally scheduled live in April 2020, and is now the third of the VI-HPS Tuning workshop to be organised online, as are all workshops scheduled in 2020 due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

30 participants from CINECA and other European, Japanese and Indian research centres were introduced to the VI-HPS tools and were able to test and apply them on their own codes, using the MARCONI100 system. This workshop was one of the first to offer demonstrations and use of the tools on the GPU nodes available in the MARCONI100 system in addition to its Power9 nodes.

The slides of the presentations are available on the VI-HPS website.

Video recordings of the presentations are available at the Cineca Learning Platform (login as Guest).
