On 9-10 November 2020, POP attended the NAFEMS20 UK Virtual Conference, The focus of the conference was on the role of engineering simulation in inspiring innovation covering a range of topics from traditional FEA and CFD, to new and emerging areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning and EDA.
The conference was originally scheduled for June 2020 and it was postponed to November due to the uncertainty imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. It was great to finally meet fellow innovators as well as those that could benefit from POP’s services using the virtual platform.
NAG, one of our commercial partners, was an exhibitor at this event on behalf of the POP CoE. POP can help Engineering community to improve their simulation software by first, helping them to better understand the behavior of their software, and second, providing practical help with code refactoring to improve the code performance. On our virtual booth, we showcased examples of our previous collaborations with researchers, engineers and innovators from the engineering simulation community.
Moreover, Fouzhan Hosseini from NAG had a talk titled “Parallel Engineering Codes: Performance Optimisation with the POP Methodology" (slides) on the conference’s innovative application track. This was another great opportunity to engage with the members of the NAFEMS community.
Many thanks to everybody from NAFEMS who worked hard to make this event happen and especially to Jo Davenport who was always there to provide support in preparation for the virtual event.
