Among the main objectives of the ChEESE-2P project are the improvement of the performance of the 11 flagship codes of the CoE towards Exascale. These codes are integrated into a Scientific and Computational Grand Challenge of significant impact in the Solid Earth field. |
Work package 2 (WP2) of the ChEESE CoE is the part of the project where this work on the flagship codes is designed, executed, and monitored. Within WP2, a successful methodology (originating from the ChEESE1 project) requires that flagship codes undergo a performance assessment on EuroHPC architectures using quantitative metrics to evaluate computational efficiency (POP metrics). This activity is fully supported by the POP3 CoE through expertise and the use of its efficient tools for performance assessments.
This webinar provided a brief introduction to ChEESE-2P and the main objectives of the project. Then, WP2 and its methodology towards Exascale (and particularly the interaction with POP3) were discussed. The webinar closed with a success story, the performance enhancements of the SPECFEM3D flagship code.
