  • On November 4, 2026, POP experts, in cooperation with the Czech National Competence Centre in HPC, will present the Introduction and Coaching with POP Methodology and Tools course, to be held on-site at IT4Innovations. Training is offered with a variety of portable, open-source performance tools and associated analysis methodology of the Performance Optimisation & Productivity Centre of Excellence (POP CoE).
   
  • On November 5, 2026, POP expert Valentin Seitz (BSC) will present the 44th POP Webinar - Can our Scales Handle the Weight? Testing the POP Tools on Large Systems. He will report on experiments with the POP tools at large scale on up to 112,000 CPU cores and 2,048 GPUs on MareNostrum 5 using two HPC applications that maintain a reasonable granularity at this scale. He will explore the overheads and costs of measuring applications at scale during data collection, post-processing and visualization.
 

Readiness of HPC Extreme-scaling Applications Workshop

In November 2022, the first ExaFLOPS supercomputer was listed in the Top500, marking a milestone in the pursuit of exa-scale computing. Europe has been preparing for this era through its Centres of Excellence (CoE), which focus on enhancing the scalability and performance of major HPC applications. To further this effort, the “Readiness of HPC Extreme-scaling Applications” workshop was organised to bring together the HPC community - particularly application developers and users from academia and industry - to discuss challenges, solutions, and opportunities in preparing software for exa-scale systems. The workshop was held at the ISC in Hamburg in 2024 and 2025 and a third workshop is in the works for 2026.
