2nd POP Webinar - Getting Performance from OpenMP Programs on NUMA Architectures

Thu, Aug 3, 2017 3:00 PM - 3:40 PM CEST

Most contemporary shared memory systems expose a non-uniform memory architecture (NUMA) with implications on application performance. However, the OpenMP programming model does not provide explicit support for that. This 30-minute live webinar will discuss the approaches to getting the best performance from OpenMP applications on such machines. We will motivate this talk with practical examples showing best practices. What you will gain from joining this webinar:

  • Understanding the characteristics of cc-NUMA architectures
  • Understanding the OpenMP Thread Affinity model
  • Understanding the Operating System mechanisms of memory placement
  • Learning to put all this together for performance optimization
  • Seeing practical examples illustrating best practices
